The fact that these women are particularly marginalized due to economic and racial disenfranchisement is only an issue if we're seeking a reason to protect these women from male predators. But that's no longer the concern of lawmakers. By making "gender" synonymous with "sex," the poison pill in the middle of the Equality Act is that it marginalizes ALL women.

What about Lori Laughlin, or Felicity Huffman from the college admissions scandal? They recently served time (though I'm sure it was in a safe facility). Perhaps they would take on this cause (safety for all incarcerated women) as a way to rehabilitate their public image as a caring humanitarian. On the other hand, they'd probably be afraid of being excoriated by the woke crowd.
Here's another idea. Just as George Floyd became the poster boy for BLM, the first women inmates who are beaten, raped, or killed in jail or prison by a biological male inmate who claims to be "transgender"could present the human face of this problem, especially if that woman were in for a nonviolent offense.
No, no. That would be a tacit admission that trans-identified males are not really women, and the whole purpose of trans ideology is to obfuscate that fact. If we're all sisters because we share the same "gender," we should all live together. And if "gender" is an inherent, metaphysical state of being not defined by the body, a woman with a penis who takes no hormones is just as much a woman as you or I.
Your solution to the problem denies certain women their rights by discriminating against them because they are trans. This is deeply offensive, transphobic, harmful and implicitly violent. See how that works? Feel better now?
This policy could only have been dreamed up by misogynists and sadists. A friend of mine works in a county jail here in Alabama, and she assured me that transgender inmates are housed in separate areas of the jail. I served on the grand jury here two years ago and learned how many poor, uneducated men and women face sentences for minor, nonviolent offenses like shoplifting. It's tragic that they're incarcerated, but to have the women risk being raped by violent men is absolutely appalling. Woke madness is destroying this country.
That may be true in Alabama and most other states right now but unfortunately, if the Equality Act ever passes the Senate, I believe Alabama would be prohibited from denying the rights of those male inmates based on their "self identified" gender. In other words, the situation in all states would be like it is in CA right now where a male prisoner has the right to wake up one morning and say, "I feel like a woman today" and demand to be transferred to a woman's prison. The women in the women's prisons have no say in the matter.
Such a case would be likely to end up before the SCOTUS but who knows?

Then their are the subversives, sociopaths, psychopaths and sexual predators who would gladly pretend they are women in order to get in to a women’s prison. A good case could be made for allowing homosexual transexuals in to women’s prisons except they always will have a biological advantage over biological women, however, Autogynephiles should never be allowed in under the guise that transwomen are women.
