Dear Truth Fairy Reader,
I’m so excited that my first Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren’t Growing Up, has landed in the pages of the Daily Mail. Find it here. For my American readers, the word in the lede is “spanked.” (“Smacked” is the Britishism.)
On Monday, I’ll be dropping one of my favorite excerpts right here, exclusively on the Truth Fairy.
And on Tuesday, February 27, Bad Therapy will be available for immediate purchase wherever books are sold! (Or pre-order here now).
It’s been a long journey. Thank you, dear Readers, for your support. I have a dizzying schedule of podcasts and media appearances coming up. I’ll be sure to post them all right here.
I look forward to your reactions.
xo,
Abigail
I can't wait to read "Bad Therapy". I hope your book tour will come to my area!
Great excerpt. Recently I watched a late adolescent monologue. She had detransitioned, but with a whole host of strange belongings: "My trauma," "My PTSD," "My social anxiety," on and on. However, it sounded like she'd finally gotten a therapist capable of easing her out of that zone.
The obligation to talk to a therapist about our feelings, in our current culture, is perhaps the most pernicious danger there is. Worse, it's practically forbidden to question it. I'm looking forward to Shrier's book and hope it makes a much-needed impact.
